Question Do master and slave ptys share the same termios?

Hello!
If I understand correctly the concept of master and slave pseudo terminals, the calls tcgetattr(3) and tcgetattr(3) ought logically to, respectively, get and set the same structures, if applied to the master or slave file descriptors. In other words, setting termios parameters for the master would affect the slave and vice versa?
Am I right?
Please explain where I am going wrong, if not.
Thanks,
Michael
