Debian linux-headers-2.6.39-2-686-pae package no longer exists, auto-installs 3.0.1

I need the linux-headers package for 2.6.39-2-686-pae so I can install the nvidia driver, but the package doesn't seem to exist anymore. I find links to it when googling for answers, but you can see for yourself:

The Package No longer exists, at least in Wheezy or Squeeze.

I have the linux-headers package installed, but it automatically gave me 3.0.0+39, which I can't really use since it's not my kernel version.

I can handle a complicated solution, I just need one to do!

I'm using Debian Wheezy, Gnome Standard install, kernel 2.6.39-2-686-PAE

Thanks in advance,
William Shipley

Debian Wheezy : Versions / version names may have a very short life.

2.6.39 was last week. This week it is "3.0.0".

If you want a genuine '2.6.39', then 'squeeze-backports' will supply these:
linux-image-2.6.39-bpo.2-686-pae , linux-headers-2.6.39-bpo.2-686-pae
http://packages.debian.org/source/sq...orts/linux-2.6

Today, Wheezy can supply http://packages.debian.org/source/wheezy/linux-2.6
.. from Source Package: linux-2.6 (3.0.0-1) → "linux-2.6_3.0.0.orig.tar.gz"

It is a general thing, that old versions are removed from the server :
To get a matching set of linux-image/linux-headers, then 'linux-image'
must be updated or changed to a supported version.

Ah, but my kernel was a 2.6.39, so I needed it. I'm assuming new Debian Wheezy Discs will have the 3.0.0 kernel?

I found a way around, similar to the "backports" one you suggested: I pulled the package I needed off of the apt cache on another wheezy I installed 3 days before.

Thanks!
