Question I'm having similar issues..

Here is how my day went. My friend bought his crashed PC/Laptop and told me to fix it. It has BSOD and it automatically restarts the comp so I couldn't read the error message. SO i thought to myself, why don't I give him a free ride and try to install Linux on his laptop. Oh wait I first downloaded a iso called sysresourcecd which is a linux based troubleshooting GUI, which was installed on a jump drive using Linux Live Usb Creator. After the 5 step installation on my drive, I plugged in the jump drive to his laptop and booted up the troubleshooting GUI. It worked fine. I could only see the partitions install, but my attempts to repair them failed. I then attempted to use Linux Live USB creator to run linux distros off of the usb.

I am now at the loading screen which is saying Could not find kernel image: grub.exe

I have tried to rename files but I can't locate them anywhere on my usb. I just see different files pertaining to random applications I guess.

I think my mistake was using Live Linux USB creator.

ANybody ever use this? I also downloaded a COMPATIBLE distro directly from a listed mirror site. I download LINUX MINT 9. and I am getting error message on his laptop COULD NOT FIND KERNEL, and in my virtual machine.
