Configuring kernel file by script that scan machine to create optimal .config


Hi everyone!. I need build own optimal kernel for my distro (Ubuntu) and my question is: is there any script that creat .config file by scanning my hardware looking through each system modules and save this file.

Yes, and the kicker is: it's included in the package and called menuconfig...here's how to fire it up:

make menuconfig
then leave the thing and save the config on the way out.

my accent to "by scanning my hardware looking through each system module". In make menuconfig i need manual enable or disable modules.

Not really. If you start menuconfig up and just save the config it found, you're in...dont worry....the thing is clever enough to figure out the hardware. Unless your harware was made on Mars
