As you guys see, the installation cannot be completed. Anybody knows why?
Thanks, Arow! Gonna try it... it's not going to mess up my 2.6.17 kernel version, bootable by grub, is it? Because I've been testing both kernels (the new version I couldn't find in SMP - multi-processor version).
Hey, reddazz, nice seeing you around here! :-)
Gonna try kernel-devel, too. Can I do it by "yum install kernel-devel"?
I tried to do a "yum install kernel-devel", but it tries to install over the wrong kernel (a kernel I'm not using). Is there any command I'm missing?
Thenks!
The kernel-devel package is always for the latest kernel in the FC5 repos. If you are using an older kernel, you will have to find the kernel-devel package that matches the kernel you are running. Pbone usually has links to older kernel-devel packages.

No all it's gonna do is install the source code in the aforementioned directory. You have to configure, compile, and install the new kernel and associated modules before you can boot it. In any event, it'll just add an entry for the new kernel to grub.conf. It'll probably be set as the default kernel, but you can always edit grub.conf to your liking.
