Bootstrapping

I am trying to bootstrap a amd64 kernel on a 32 bit install of Debian.

I have done the following:

Code:
apt-get install linux-image-amd64 busybox-static dctrl-tools aptitude
dpkg --add-architecture amd64
apt-get update
reboot
But, when I reboot, it boots with the 32 bit architecture. I am not able to boot with the 64.

I have been following the instructions posted by the author at this link http://anarc.at/services/upgrades/cross-architecture/

Help would be appreciated.

There are quite a few steps listed after installing the kernel image, adding multiarch and updating APT -- have you followed all the other steps?

Thanks. I decided to create a fresh install of 64 bit architecture.
