books on Linux kernel programming

Hi all,
I've searched the forum, but couldn't find a satisfactory answer for this. Sorry I've to post this question again.
I'm a green hand in kernel programming, does anyone know any good books or other resources on practical Kernel programming, development?

Hope this thread could become a good collection of quality resources on kernel programming. Development tools like kernel debugger, or visualization software, user mode linux are also welcome if you find them of great help.

(P.S.Someone told me the kernel changes rapidly, and old books usually don't work so well... )

Thanks.

Oreilly publishes several good books on Linux. The one that probably comes closest to what you need is "Understanding the Linux Kernel":

The best one would be:

<Essential Linux Device Drivers> by Sreekrishnan Venkateswaran

Publisher: Prentice Hall
Pub Date: March 27, 2008
Pages: 744

The following is a very good one too:

Linux Device Drivers, Third Edition
