Any useful tools for debug or simulate the 2.6 kernel?

Hi, Everyone

I am interesting in the linux kernel. And I am curious about what happens in the kernel.

But it is hard for me to understand the behavior. Any one got a useful tool to debug this? or simulate the environment?

Bochs is a simulator for x86 architecture. I tried to compile it with --enable-gdb-stub, but failed.

How you guys study the kernel?

I'm new kernel learner too. And I begin studying the kernel by studying the drivers. I recommend the book LINUX DEVICE DRIVERS.
