Yamaha OPL 3-SAx Sound System
 

I have a Gatway 9100 Solo w/Yamaha OPL 3-SAx Sound System.

when I choose OPL3-SA2/3/x
I get the following error. I've tried the different resource combinations offered. Also tried the yamaha PCI choice. The acer notebook sound is the only one in the list that produces a sound but it locks up my laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

what distro are you using? according to some
searches i did in google/linux the sound should be
no problem.
it seems that opl3sa2.o is missing?
do a slocate opl3sa2 if slocate complains do a updatedb
first.
and www.linux-laptop.net; always good to pay a visit
lspci -v ;gives some hardware info check for conflicting
irq's ( dmesg also provides hardware info)

ok from a quick seach to a (german) site
the vortex 1 relates to an au8820
so au88xx should contain the driver, tho don't
know if its in the standard distro or has to be
downloaded somewhere; so do a few searches
and if that dont work get back here ;)

question, i mixed up a thread, so any mod/root whatever

I've only started using linux.
dist is rh 7.3 base.1 kernel

I tried slack 8.0 & 8.1. Slack seems to do better with most hardware, but video. With Slack I keep getting unknown video mode. So I decided to start with RH.
