.xsession-errors filled my root partition now i cant boot suse10.0 64bit
 

sheesh, I am running Suse10.0 64bit on an AMD64.
One day the system crashed after i interupted the screensaver. on the next boot it booted to single user and said there was not enough room on the /dev/hda6 (my root).

on inspection it seems i have a huge .xsessioon-errors file nearly 12Gb.
i tried: rm /home/~me/.xsession-errors to clear some space but the system crashed.
i tried using the repair utitlity on the install DVD and i tried using suseLive 9.2 DVD. nothing will delete the file.

i have run: fsck /dev/hda6 from suseLive DVD and from single user mode on the install. both say run fsck manually.

the file system is reiserfs and is a 14GB partition with 12Gb taken with this errors file.

i really dont wanna reinstall again.
Any suggestions at all welcome.

It seems that single user mode on the install itself is now not working... so this is gonna have to be from my suseLIVE DVD or i have DSLinux on a usb pen as well.

as i said ANY suggestions please...

When using the DVD to boot, make sure the filesystem where the file you want to delete is, is mounted read/write - this could be a reason for not being able to delete the file.
You should have gotten (error)-messages when you tried to delete but it didn't work, which lead you to the cause of the problem.
