XServer not working on Fedora


i installed the Fedora core distirbutins . the resolution was set to 1024x768 by the installer. i changed the resolution to 800x600. the os told me to restat the xserver. i pressed alt+ctrl+backspace . the screen went blanck and never came to the gui again.the CUI(console) is working properly
i tried teh "xf86config" but this command was not found..........
some please help me........i would be very thankful

Have you tried just a simple: startx
