xsane networked scanner returns "invalid argument"
I am having trouble getting my HP 6310 All-In-One scanner working using it on its ethernet interface, set to 192.168.1.208. Installed fine under cups for printing. hplib installed. I do the following.
~ $ hp-makeuri 192.168.1.208 HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.9.4b) Device URI Creation Utility ver. 5.0 Copyright (c) 2001-9 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. I then run ~ $ xsane hpaio:/net/Officejet_6300_series?ip=192.168.1.208 But I get an error window: Failed to open device hpaio:/net/Officejet_6300_series?ip=192.168.1.208 Invalid Argument /etc/cups/printers.conf contains <Printer HP6310> Info All In One Location Den DeviceURI socket://192.168.1.208 State Idle StateTime 1302623634 Accepting Yes Shared Yes JobSheets none none QuotaPeriod 0 PageLimit 0 KLimit 0 OpPolicy default ErrorPolicy stop-printer </Printer> What is wrong? tj |

Actually I discoverred the problem. I ASSUMED that all necessary software was loaded at Slackware 13.0 install time. Wrong assumption, hpaio was NOT present. After installing it from the distro dvd I downloaded, everything worked perfectly.
