Xorg -configure errors

If Xorg -configure does not work, what are the alternatives to reconfiguring X.
I shifted the hard disk to another system, and the xorg - configure command doesn't help. It seems to indicate some problems in xinetd.
Would deleting the xorg.conf and xinetd files help?

I am having this problem in Sabayon.

Firstly, xinetd isn't part of your problem. xinetd is a server daemon that is used to start services on demand - e.g. telnet, swat, and ftp. Deleting xinetd files will further damage your system.

Have you tried renaming /etc/X11/xorg.conf - forcing the file to be rebuilt?

Thanks Blacky : I deleted the xorg.conf file and things picked up. I think I got the name of the file wrong. It was some other file the started with X. But, I was not aware of the importance of xinetd.
