Xerox 8400 DP and differnt distros.

Hi,

We have recently bought a Xerox Phaser 8400 DP and use it as a network printer. I don't know if any of you have the same printer but in any case here is what the problem is.

We use the printer on different computers what of course the whole point is of a network-printer. The computers have different distros of Linux. Going from Red hat 7.1 to Red hat 9 and Mandrake 9.2 and Suse 9.0. And some bono's want to use Windows.

But okay, our problem is that on some of the distros, the printer doesn't work properly. There are a lot of empty pages printed, or the file is printed multiple times.

On the red hat machines, the configuration is done with print tool using an LPR protocol or printing directly at the socket port 9100.

It seems also that Mandrake doesn't has any problem with it, and also the Suse machines. both of these distros use CUPS as printingsystem for this printer.

For all the machines we have used a simple postscript printer which should work perfectly.

Using Windows we have not a problem, because we use the drivers of the printer itself.

any suggestions of how we could get this printer to work. I know it is a very descriptive problem, but I want to know how i can solve it. We also got some linux drivers, but due to some reasons I can't get them working properly.

in any case
thanks
