xandros scanner permission issues
 

hello people

starting with xandros 4.5 oce has got me stumped! i have more or less the same issues as these two posts

but none of the solutions helped me out at all!

some info

scanimage as user - device busy
scanimage as root - all is cool

as in the above posts the udev entry permissions are correct, but the low-level usb permissions are root root! manual chgrp every boot not an option im afraid.

uname -r = 2.6.24-smp

can someone suggest anything at all please? i know that similar issues have been addressed and solved, but the solutions dont seem to apply to xandros...

nobody at this friendly, massive linux community can help with the debian based xandros and nobody has any info or advice regarding udev and its documented permissions issues (granted, with other distros) or how to overcome them?

im not a total newb but i am still trying to learn. i dont really want just a solution, but anything that can help me work through the problem.

i have also tried to contribute when and where i can with my limited knowledge...

im a bit disappointed :(
