Ok so I bought a used computer (always have never could afford them new) anyways its a good computer 3.06ghz (hyper threading) half gig ram nvidia geforce (64mb) and I put my 160 WD harddrive in there.. well it had a dvd drive (also new to me) and I found that X would crash while watching dvds, but then I found everytime it crashed it had to do with any workload on the card,so I put in this dual monitor matrox card (downgrade again..) however before I put in my harddrive the other one had windows and it ran just fine video wise, so, even with the nvidia drivers it still crashed, any ideas or could the card possiably just be fried and I had'nt found out yet?

What did the log say after it crashed;
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
