X hangs with second video card

Fedora Core 1
1st video card nVidia GeForce2 MX400 (AGP)
2nd video card Matrox MGA 2064W (PCI)

Hi LQers,

I put a second video card in my machine for a dual head setup and when I use an XF86Config file for dual heads, X hangs up the computer requiring a hard reset.

I installed the custom nVidia drivers and have the XF86Config file set up for two separate X Screens (two Monitor, Device and Screen sections).

The strange thing is that sometimes, by trying various tricks, I have gotten it to work perfectly! But I can't ever seem to get it to repeat. Like I'll reboot and then it hangs again. If I go back to a single head XF86Config file, it always works fine.

When it hangs, it is at the nVidia "Spalsh" screen.

I also tried it without the custom nVidia drivers by unstalling the custom ones and using "nv" in the "Device" section. It appeas to hang the same way only without the big bright "nVidia" splash screen. Just a black screen.

It seems like it must by some X config problem but I can't seem to find it.

Here's my XF86Config file:

Thanks in advance for any tips. I'm pulling my hair out on this! 8^(

Mike

You should get some error messages in your /var/log/Xorg.log

For the card that's in the AGP slot, you could probably get rid of the BusID portion. Also, I'd stick with the default drivers "nv" for now until you get it to work, I've experienced issue before with mixing video drivers.

Once you've done that, give it another whirl, find out what's in your log file and go from there.

Thanks for the reply, Technoslave.

My X log file (XFree86.0.log) has no errors (EE) reported. (See below)

I've tried the "nv" drivers as well as the "nvidia" drivers. Same hangup either way.

And yes, I had the BusID for the AGP slot just to see if it would help. Didn't.

I am curious about the Int10 module. What is that. It says it loaded it but I don't see it when I do a "lsmod".
