Wrong colors w/ Videos - Gforce 8800 GT

This has been an on going issue - from ubuntu, to Mandriva. When ever I watch a video, anime in particular there is a blueish tint to everything. Other colors are sometimes off also: green is pink, for example.

I thought that perhaps it was ubuntu, but now it's also happening with Mandriva (2009.0 free edition). So I'm starting to think that it's more a hardware issue. Desktop, and everything else is fine.

Geforce 8800 GT 256MB - Dell Inspiron 1720

Videos are XVID/DivX

Any ideas?

Not entirely sure at this point. I selected the option to install the proprietary drivers version: 177.70.

Already getting annoyed with Mandriva... Too many issues. But that's another story.

Had a problem with all players in Ubuntu 8.10: the colours where completely wrong for xvid.

I followed the solution suggested here and it solved my problem:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=620912

Run gstreamer-properties and select "X Window System (No Xv)" instead of "Autodetect" for the "Default Output".

hope this helps, cheers.

Thanks, that solved it for me. Though I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) and videocard Nvidia 9500 GT.
