Or try searching around google for Linux focused reviews of the hardware.
But as stlouis says, it all looks fine. The only issue I could possibly imagine would be if Ubuntu is not set up out of the box to handle >1gb of memory or >1 processor. Haven't checked in on Ubuntu in a while though, so I can't confirm if that will be a problem (the solution being a simple kernel upgrade).
The fact that a google search for:
'linux, pentium d'
'linux, intel 950 graphics'
turns up a lot of positive results, you can uncross your fingers as things will work out fine. RAM would never be a problem, and I find Linux has better motherboard support than Windows, so that won't be a problem at all.
By the way, nice system, I bet you're happy with the low prices lately
Distribution: Mac OS X Leopard 10.6.2, Windows 2003 Server/Vista/7/XP/2000/NT/98, Ubuntux64, CentOS4.8/5.4

Thanks.
I heard that prices are going to be even lower when the new Intel Core Duo 2 comes out at the end of this month and in August. AMD has already started slashing their prices.
Unfortunately our research group needs this computer now to start our data analysis. I will be getting the new Intel Core Duo 2 CPU's in the following months as the technology gets better and when we need more horsepower.
Now I hope the Intel Core Duo 2's will work with Linux and be utilized to the fullest extent that it can.
