Working (Horray) Wireless USB Adapter
Not sure if this is the right place to put
this, but hope this helps somebody. Have had trouble finding a good wireless connection with Mandriva, via a PCI card. Tried the "GetNet Wireless USB Adapter GN-621U" and this works great. Just follow the 'README' instructions - "Method 1" and you should be up and running in no time. Cost's about £8 in the UK. Only used it with Mandriva - but it should work with other distro's. Hope this helps. |
Congrats - despite developments it can still be a pain to get wireless working with Linux.
I have been reasonable lucky but I got my last wifi card from Linux Emporium I am using RALink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI and have never had any issues. (well I would be if I had access to wifi) I'm actually using ZTE MF-112 GSM Dongle which I would rate as poor but could be due to the 3 network (which works out cheaper(for me) than any other Internet provider and had the shortest minimum contract). I don't think this is a linux issue because sometimes it works, fine sometimes I can't get DNS and sometimes, and most of the time it is just slow. Anyway I digress and am just complaining. This may be worth an entry into the HCL section. |
