Wlan throws NMI

Hi,
im am not sure if this is the right place for this question, but here we go.
i have some troubles with my wlan. I am using a Atheros 5212 pci chip in an acer travelmate 2423. i am running kernel 2.6.16.17 with the latest madwifi drivers compiled as modules.
everything works fine, until i tried to break the wep-key of my own wlan. i used aircrack-ng-0.5 and kismet-2006-04R1. i dumped packets with airodump and then set up an arp-replay attack with arpreplay. as soon as arpreplay caught an arp-packet and started to replay it, i get an error message saying sth like "uhhuh, dazed and confused but trying to continue, you probably have a hardware problem with your RAM-modules."
Some time after this the hole system crashes completly, sometimes it crashes without even complaining about the nmi.
the problem only occurs in this particular situation, and everything i found on google said "its not the hardware" but had little advice beyond that.
i am new to linux and have really not the slightest idea where to start searching. i tried different versions of madwifi, but that didnt help. i checked the memory but found no errors. i dont have modules to switch, so i cant rule that out, but i dont think its hardware-related.

thanks,
michael

My guess would be the memory. Memory testers are not very good at finding sneaky memory problems.

well, ith hard for me to rule out the hardware, because there is only one 512MB module in this laptop, and i dont have another one to switch. im currently searching for alternative drivers, does anybody know a good driver for atheros cards?
