wireless logiteck trackball stopped working in GUI Fedora 18

it shows in dmesg, but the GUI (gnome) has for some reason in the past 48hrs stopped responding to it. i can use a regular wired USB mouse and my USB ports are functioning as expected other then the mouse.

where to look next for trouble shooting? thanks.

Test this device on a different system or boot to a live cd and see what happens.
