wireless cards and old compaq board
 

Hi everybody, Im just getting back into linux after a couple years off. My distro of choice is slackware. Im guessing the kernel is 2.6.21.5-smp. Whats smp? I never saw this before. Anyway I digress, Im tinkering with an old compaq deskpro and I installed a belkin wireless G card with a broadcom chipset. The problem is lspci doesnt show it. I can run lspci with it in there and then run it again without it and nothing changes. Ive stuck an old dusty nic with an inch of dirt on it in the same slot and lspci shows it fine, so its not the slot. The card is brand new (1 year old with very little use) so Im guessing its an issue with an old motherboard not being able to see this device.

I cant enter the bios setup. It says F10-Setup but F10 doesnt do anything. Has anybody ever saw any of this happen before? ndiswrapper installed the drivers fine with no errors but ndiswrapper -l doesnt say hardware present, only driver loaded. I cant think of any other info to add to this post right now, thanks guys if anybody can help its yall!

I ended up just swapping wireless cards with another computer in the house. The other computer instantly sees the belkin and the compaq sees the linksys card and I have it running. In summary Some compaq boards just wont see belkin wireless cards. Even running a boot disk and pcisniffer it didnt see it. Anyway its all good now.
