I've done some digging around and came across the Hauppage WinTV Go Plus. It seems as though it works well with Linux. According to this site (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN) this particular model also has video out. Can anyone verify that it does - and if so, has anyone been able to get it to work in Linux? I already have a TV capture card that works, I was just hoping to use this one for 1) the remote 2) the video output. (I'm hoping to use MythTV - unless someone knows of better, more music based software.)
Thanks

With WinTV-GO-Plus you can:
Watch live TV on your PC screen from 125 channel cable ready TV tuner or from an external audio/video source. Watch TV-in-a-window (any size) up to full screen.
with the data for the PVR-350 (which I have and which can be connected directly to the TV) http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/produ...ta_pvr350.html
Play your video recordings on your TV set with the included hardware MPEG-2 decoder.
A good hint is also that only the PVR-350 contains the "A/V breakout cable with S-Video, composite video and stereo audio out".
i appreciate your suggestion, jlo_sandog but as far as hdtv goes - once ntsc becomes obsolete, i am pretty much buggered. i have no intention of replacing my tv, however cheap and small it may be to begin with. the main focus to all this nonsense was to have a 'media player' where i could dump all my music, and be able to navigate through it with ease. the whole recording tv deal is very much a secondary thing. sure, i'd like to dump all my movies to hard drive as well, but this is much lower on the priority list. i just want a simple, cheap solution to dumping my computer video to my tv. its only 19", but its still much bigger than my monitor. (if its not cheap, where do you start? hdtv, hdtv card, faster computer, as this one probably wouldn't do hd well (933), bigger hard drive, quiet case.. i can think of a million more interesting things to spend that kind of money on.) anyway.... lets get back to the initial point of this post... thanks jlo_sandog, but i've got to search for a more financially realistic solution.
i should also add canada is much further behind the us in terms of hd-tv... in fact, i don't think i am able to receive any broadcast hd from where i live. if in fact i can, it would be american television that i would be receiving.
