Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

winfast tv2000 xp rm no signal in F8 with tvtime

HI guys I've been trying to get tv on for quite a while but so far I have been unsuccesful.
right now I have a leadtek Winfast tv2000 xp rm

but all I get is no signal,

This is what I have:
F8 running on an Athlon 64 x2 4600 kernel 2.6.24.4-64.fc8
the card shows recognized in dmesg but the tunner is automatically selected as pal
so I searched a lot and found that I should use /etc/modules.conf and add a line to set it automatically to ntsc (I live in costa rica we use ntsc).
I added options bttv tuner=2 card=34 lumafilter=1 combfilter=1 chroma_agc=1

now the file didn't exist to I created it just to put that line
however even after a reboot the card keeps coming back as a pal tuner

I also tried to use /sbin/modbprobe -r bttv, /sbin/modebprobe -r tuner, /sbin/modprobe bttv card=34 tuner=2

and the card shows as a ntsc card properly but I'm still unable to get any signal.

I also noticed a warning at http://www.linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index...k_WinFast_2000
that it might be needed to apply this patch http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linu...9140716390&w=2

however I'm not savvy enough to find why it doesn't work, I goggled how to apply a diff file and found that it should be patch<diff but it gives me this error:

can't find file to patch at input line 3
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
--------------------------
|--- bttv-input.c.orig 2006-10-15 18:57:11.000000000 +0300
|+++ bttv-input.c 2006-10-15 18:28:08.000000000 +0300
--------------------------
File to patch:

and I have no idea where's the file I take it it's bttv-input.c but I couldn't find it anywhere in my system

So after all the rant my questions are:

1- has anybody been able to get this card working for ntsc in america (I did try to set the correct mode , ntsc & cable)
2- to what file should that patch be applied.

3- if no one know, can anybody recommend me a card that will work for tv time in America (ntsc) that supports SAP (secondary audio program), preferably that doesn't require manual configuration.

Thanks in advance

AL
