WindowsXP Harddrive on Mandrake 9.2

I'm trying to move my secondary 100 gig hard drive from my Windows XP computer to my Mandrake 9.2 computer. The hard drive was formatted by Windows NTFS and is now full of files... Is it possible to get this hard drive working on my Linux machine without having to reformat?

I plugged the hard drive into the Linux machine, set as slave, the computer detected it on boot (in BIOS), but I am not able access the hard drive once Linux boots. any guidence?

I'm a newbie.. so be nice to me ;-)

I believe Mandrake uses lilo, so posting your /etc/lilo.conf would help.

Basically, you edit that file and add the stanza for the Windows OS, run /sbin/lilo and then reboot to try it out and see if you figured it out.

You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc

I believe that the drive he is moving to his linux computer has data on it.
Run the diskdrake program as root. You can do this by selecting 'Run command...' in the KMenu, and typing in the command:
kdesu diskdrake
From there, you will be able to enter where you want the drive mounted and mount it. When exiting the program, select yes for 'save changes to /etc/fstab.
