windows AOL pc as a gateway

ok, my parents use AOL, and wont give it up. since i can't buy my own ISP because of winmodem problems, i have to use linux.

can i connect to AOL using their windows software on a windows machine, then network my laptop with that machine that's connceted to the internet, and surf the net like that in linux ? is it possible, or does the aol software prevent people form sharing internet connections ?
