Will USB tv card work?
Hi
I want to convert some old VHS video to digital form. The cheapest way seems to be to get a TV card. I have a notebook so the best would be to buy a USB TV card or what ever you call it. I read this article on linuxquestions http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...icle&artid=278 which sees to be quite simple. I suppose this is about plugging in TV cards to the motherboard isn't it? Would a USB TV device work the same way? I use Mandrake 10.0. Has anybody used a USB TV card successfully? Thanks Neranjana |
One more thing,
most tv cards come with a remote controller. Do they work with Linux ore are they completely useless under Linux? Thanks Neranjana |
I am not sure about it, but I guess you want to play it safe and use a regular tv-card. cx88 based cards are supported and are pretty good, but over USB, I sincerely doubt it.
Sorry to bring you the bad news. |
A USB TV Card sounds sloowwww. Then again it does kinda seem like your only option, unless they've developed PCMCIA TV Cards. The remote may work, but I have this intuition that it might not. If it doesn't, perhaps someone has written a driver for it?
