Will Linux Support Amd Processors And Other Than Intel Processors?
 
:newbie: DEAR FRIEND,
I AM HAVING A DOUBT IN LINUX HARDWARE SUPPORT.
WILL LINUX SUPPORT OTHER THAN INTEL MOTHERBOARDS..
THEN WILL IT SUPPORT OTHER THAN INTEL PROCESSORS..EX AMD ATHALON?
PLEASE REFER ME THEN WHAT IS THE MAJOR DIFFERENT IN INTEL AND OTHER PROCESSORS SUPPORTING?

Yes, it does support AMD athlon. The one's compiled for Intel should work out of the box.

Yes, Linux can be installed on almost any CPU, including the one Mac uses.

Don't shout at us please. Find the caps lock and make sure it is not all caps.

major difference... you'll pay more for the intel

I have a AMD 2500+ and it works fine, not Intel. I also use a ABIT NF7 mobo, that's not intel either, and it works fine.

The biggest hardware support issues are winmodems and video cards that use ATI chipsets. Other than that, most works.

You did find that caps lock button didn't you. It's usually on the left above the shift key. Just trying to help here. I'll take off my hear muffs know. he he he

I'm running an ATHLON with RH9, AMD is best because they do not sponcer microsoft

I have suse 8.2 working on a Pcchips 787mlr mainboardboard, it
has a built-in Via C3 733Mhz cpu, and Via 8601 chipset.
Its been running since April without any flaws at all, so yes Linux
supports even strange little "critters" like this one, without any
problems.:)
