Will any distros run a Hauppage WinTV GO (model 607) out of the box

I bought a Hauppage WinTV Go tv card to run with Suse 9.2 after advice from this forum that it would work. However, I got one of the cards with a cx8800 chipset rather than bttv and I haven't been able to get it to work. Yast detects and configures the card but is never able to find any channels. When I try to select the tuner type in Yast a dialogue appears saying that no tuners are available.

Is there any easy way to get my card to work?

If not, are there any newer distros ( particularly Suse 10 ) that will work with my TV card out of the box?

Thanks

This was the first hit from typing "linux wintv cx8800" into google: http://icculus.org/~jcspray/wintv_cx88.html

This has nothing to do with distros. The support is in the kernel, not the distro. What does the kernel say about the card
(dmesg, lspci, etc). If it doesn't recognize it, the first thing to do is to install the latest kernel, the 2.6.8 in SUSE 9.2 is a bit
long in the tooth in kernel terms.

Ive just tried the latest version of knoppix (4) and it works the tv card in colour and with sound perfectly so im very happy.

If, as you say, the tv card support is in the kernal, as Knoppix 4 uses kernal 2.6.12 and suse 10 uses 2.6.13 does this mean that the tv card will also work with suse 10?

Yes, it will be fine. New drivers are regularly added to the kernel, but only really ancient and/or obsolete stuff is removed. And even then, only rarely.
