I've read some HowTo's that mention editing the xorg.conf file. I consider myself a Linux newbie still and wanted to check here before I start editing things.
So, do I just edit the "Screen" section in xorg.conf and add my max supported resolution (1440x900)?

Basically, yes. However, if you posted the relevant portions of your xorg.conf file, we might be able to help out a bit more. That video card SHOULD be able to handle that resolution. Do you have NVIDIA drivers loaded?
