Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question Widescreen console resolution possible?

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to achieve non-standard or widescreen resolutions in the framebuffer console. Currently, I have Slackware 12.0 boot with the option vga=791 in grub for 1024x768, but I would like to be able to set it to 1280x768. If it is possible, would it break anything (boot splashes, etc.)?

Don't get this confused with what resolution I have in Xorg (which is fine BTW).

Computer specs are in my sig. Thank you in advance!
