I am a new bie.
i have Pentium4 processor on a Intel GVSR845 board. My problem is with my modem. PCtel HSp56 Micromodem, SiS 3107.
I have mandriva 2006 with kernek-2.6.12. i even have drivers for modem, pctel-0.9.6
when i tried to configure the driver with th e command
:# ./configure --with-hal=i8xx
I get an error message " checking /usr/src/linux/include/linux/ modversions.h -presence - no"
" you should configure your kernel first"

I installed kernel and tried
:#make configure

it went ok without any errors but it was long process. after that i tried :#male dep
it says " make dep is unnecessary now"

please tell me what should i do now!

You normally have at least one other make step to go... make install, maybe just "make" followed by "make install". Usually only the "make install" step needs to be done as root.

After the driver is installed you configure the modem.
