??? you do know that the new xorg/x11 has not been ported to the old legacy drivers 173 and 96
reinstall the old x11,xorg,and kernel
downgrade the system to where it was before the update.

Your best bet would be to download the latest source from nvidia.org (I thinks it's version 256.35)and use this with F13. Make sure you are building the nvidia driver against the kernel you will be booting to.

the current nvidia.run for the 173 is
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.25-pkg1.run ( dated 01/29/2010 09:43:00 PM)
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/

the same as the fedora 13 repo

search fedoraforum
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/?
this happened the last time a new xorg came out ( fedora 8 )
just downgrade xorg until the driver is out.

Thanks for all the help guys. I did not know that the driver was not compatible with the new xorg, but unfortunately I have to use this driver because my card is old and doesn't work with RPMfusion's current proprietary Nvidia driver. I didn't think there was a precompiled version in the repos, but I'll check again; when I searched for it I did not find it.

that driver in the repo is also for the old xorg

nvidia has not ported the legacy drivers to it yet

it will take time .

you ? might? ,a big might, be able to use the open nouveau driver until then ?
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=204752

or downgrade the kernel and xorg.
