which PCMCIA wireless card most compatible?

I realize it is the chip even with the same model and company, I have 2 netgear cards that I can't configure due to being a relative newbie.

which card is most compatible in general linux distros? I have a laptop that I am not sure which distro will take but anticipating suggestion (from newegg) as to which card is most compatible?

any 1st hand suggestions out there?

thanks,

gychang

I started my search here: http://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/net/wireless/cards.html

And chose the Asus WL-107G PCMCIA card which was simple to setup in Linux. It looks like NewEgg no longer carries this card though. Backordered at Provantage too. Macmall and Buy.com both have it back ordered as well.. I wonder if it's no longer available or if they are getting ready to switch the Chip so it will no longer work.. (Manufacturers regularly keep the model number and change the hardware and revision number so a card you think will work Doesn't, so if a Revision is specified, make sure you get the proper one.)

Well that being the case, go back to my first link (Free Software Foundation) and choose something from that page that has a free Driver available.
