I've been trying to get a stepup on learning which motherboard to buy that I can use the onboard video,sound and lan that would be compatible with the present linux distros using an AMD Sempron 754 CPU low budget workstation, No high end stuff, need help choosing, All suggestions welcome.
Steer clear of SATA for many Linux and Win combinations
I have an AMD Expression motherboard with Sempron 2800 and a SATA and IDE drive. PCLinuxOS 93 is magic with this combination - but with SUSE 10 Enterprise, Ubuntu and Fedora 6 it was a case of fiddling around with GRUB to get it to boot. Fedora 6 didn't like the graphics and froze - as did Mandriva 2007 to a lesser extent. SUSE 10 Desk Enterprise just said it couldn't enable the fancy graphics but was OK to use otherwise.
