Which 3D accelertor card's work with Intel 815eg chipset?

Hey Guys,

Can someone recommend a suitable 3D accelerator card to go with the Intel 815eg chipset?

I've heard that you have to pair the graphics card with the 3D accelerator.

Any help would be great.

Thanks Guys

Hey LogicG8

I just want to know of a 3D accelerator card (PCI), that will work with my current, on board graphics card.

I don't know what model the graphics card is, just what chipset it is part of.

Sorry that I can't give more information.

Thanks

3d Accelleration with PCI cards are a bit iffy
but I've gotten ATI's pci radeon 7500 to work
with direct rendering.

An external card won't work *with* your onboard
graphics chipset but will work *instead* of your
onboard gfx chipset.

Typically there is an option in your BIOS to
disable the onboard video and/or look at the
PCI slots for video first. There may also be a
jumper on your mobo to disable onboard video

Do all graphics cards built now, have 3D accelerators built in?

If so can someone recommend one that will work with both Windows and Linux (without much modification).

I don't play many graphic intensive games, but when I do play a game I really need it to be smooth.

Unfortuantly I have a Phoenix BIOS, which has almost nothing in it, so there will be no way to select the graphics card from the BIOS.

(Damn I miss American Megatrends BIOS's)

Thanks Guys

I recommend an ATI radeon 7500 pci

I can give it the "it works for me" seal of
approval.

PCI video cards will never be as good/fast as AGP
cards b/c of the limitations of the bus.
Still the radeons performance is pretty good.
