Where has my hard disk space gone

Gparted tells me i have used up 11.5 gb of space
but filelight tells me i have used up 6.9gb of space.

this is my root partition and where the hell has that 4.6gb(11.5-6.9) gone, and if possible is it recoverable.

i have a similar scenario with /home aswel.
gparted 35.63
filelight 34.2

any ideas

thanks.

There are lots of things you can do.

One suggestion:
Quote:
du -k / 2>/dev/null|sort -nr|less
Then drill down to specific directories that look suspicious.

Don't trust any one set of numbers from any one tool as "gospel" - merely use them for "guidance".

IMHO .. PSM
