When mounting an IOMega e-go USB external drive, it mounts read-only

Hi-

I attached an IOMega e-go portable USB hard drive to my debian Linux system. Automounted fine and I thought great. But unfortunately, it will only mount read-only and I cannot change permissions to allow write access. Is there a compatibility problem or simply need to edit fstab or somethng??

Is it an NTFS partition? Odds are, it is. What is the output of the "mount" command run as root after it has auto-mounted?

Yes,it is an NTSF drive and the relavent output from mount is:
/dev/sda1on /media/Iomega_HDD type ntfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000,gid=1000,umak=077,iochrset=utf8)
