[QUOTE=repo;3559325]Does it blink when you shutdown the system?[/QUOTE
when i shut down the system the led doesn't blink
but when i hibernate-ram it keeps blinking in red although usually it is in blue
is it normal??
Hibernate to RAM.. so you actually mean SUSPEND right ? The system is still ON in a low power state it is still drawing power and draining the battery. that is probably why the light is blinking as a warning that your system is NOT turned off. if left in suspend mode for an extended period it will completely drain your battery.
Hibernate on the other hand copies RAM to the Hard Drive and actually powers off the system.
Hibernate and Suspend are two different animals
Quote:
Suspend
ACPI state S3 -- also know as Suspend-to-RAM -- is the state where everything in the system enters a low-power state except for RAM, which consumes a small amount of power in order to retain its contents, so that upon resuming, everything is loaded back from the memory and all running applications are restored immediately.
Hibernate
Hibernate, also known as ACPI State S4 or Suspend-to-disk, operates like to Suspend-to-RAM but stores all current data to the hard disk. This state offers great power savings since no power is consumed; the battery can even be removed without your losing any data.
There are three methods for hibernating on Linux: swsusp, which is part of the kernel; uswsusp, which runs in user space but is not ready for production yet; and Software Suspend (suspend2), which has been around for some time and works as advertised.
So I would guess the blinking light is normal, you should be able to verify by checking the owners manual for your laptop.
Hello
