add to your fstab:
/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom auto defaults,noauto,ro 0 0

also in /etc/lilo.conf add in your image section:
append="hdX=ide-scsi"

(hdX is where your drive is located)

and you should be able to read your cdrw/dvd drive and also write to it

I didn't touch the /etc/fstab entry when I installed FC2. The relevant line is
"/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf,iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0"

That's never given me any trouble. I can read and write CDs, and read DVDs. My drive is a DVD burner, but I haven't tried that yet, though I guess it would work.

Hi
I tryed putting what you told me and when I like mount a CD-rw in the drive, the console gives me an error message saying that I should specify what file type is it!!?/
And by the way when you told me to edit the lilo.conf in /etc, which drive are you talking about when you said that I should write hdX=ide-scsi X is where is drive is?? I assume you ment the disk Drive, how do I find out what drive it is?? I meant the letter!!
Thanks

You do not need to include hdx=ide-scsi if you are using kernel version 2.6.x because the kernel developers were smart to not include it. Also cdrecord or dvdrecord now understand how to use ATAPI commands to control the drives to write to discs. If you are using kernel version 2.4.x you will have to include hdx=ide-scsi. The hdx=ide-scsi goes in your bootloader config file. It goes in the append for lilo and for grub it goes in the kernel line. The hdx designates your cdrom/dvd drive. Use dmesg to figure what device designates your cdrom/dvd drive.
