I check out newegg.com and pricing the Athlon MP 2800+ vs. the Opetron 1.4GHz 240s the diffrence was $37. Did you have any problems getting Linux to work on the Opetrons?
Ya, your right, guess the price difference isn't too bad. Probably just seamed expensive because I bought it with a $500 mother board, a 3ware SATA Raid adapter and two of those SATA Raptor 74 GB disks.
I didn't have any trouble with getting linux to work, I used a Gentoo AMD64 basic livecd to install.
Just so you know, you don't have to get a $500 mainboard to use opteron's. But I wanted to use the 3ware card on a 66Mhz. 64bit PCI slot which is why I got one.
