I want to buy a AMD processor. But I was wondering what is the best Amd processor for a desktop. Please let me know your opinion in what is the best so I buy one.
To narrow it more I want to buy a cpu with the latest AMD processor technology. I am a programmer studying Computer engineering. I want to run x86: Solaris Express, Developer Edition, Slackware 11.0. Solaris for software development and linux for my personal server...
Well, x86 isn't the latest processor technology. You're interested in x86_64.
What's the best? Define best. If you're on a budget, a Sempron might be "best" because it's inexpensive. If you want to be an engineer, think like an engineer. Define and document your requirements in detail, rank the requirements in order of importance, then find the processor that meets the majority of your requirements...that's the best one.
