what information does lsmod give?
I am learning for a LPI certificate and i want to know what the information lsmod give.
For example, this line is part of the ouput of lsmod:

dm_mod                56661  3 dm_mirror
The first one is the name of the module, the second is the size of it, but how about the rest? Is the number 3 its ID?
Thanks in advance

3- number of times used
dn_mirror- who is using it
:tisk: you should be using man pages not questions to LQ for homework ;)

Thanks for the info. But why there are some modules which are loaded but the number of time it is used is 0? Does it mean these modules are not neccessary for the system? Where can i find information about which programs load these modules and which files(except /etc/modprobe.conf because not all modules are loaded explicitly) should i modify to prevent these modules loaded in the future?
I am studying for the LPIC by myself so these questions are not from my assignment, it just because when i read the book about "need to know commands" i am curious about the output of those.

Thanks again :D
