what are the best graphic tablets for linux?

Hello,
I am interested in buying a graphics tablet for use with my linux computer. I currently have a laptop which uses a touch pad and it is hard to make precise marks using some of the free hand tools in Inkscape or GIMP. Thus I have decided to search for a graphics tablet that will allow me to make precise strokes when I need to use GIMP or INKSCAPE.

Additionally I want to buy one that is relatively easy to install, it would be even better if it works out of the box.

My distro is UBUNTU 7.04 Feisty Fawn.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd say Wacom, I have one (pre-USB era tho). Check the LQ HCL or another Linux hardware listing site before you buy though.
