What'd the difference between RAID and normal IDE?

integrated drive electronics is a standard for the interconnect between hard drvies and the motherboard. raid is a system for ensuring data integrity and preventing data loss. a raid setup can be ide, scsi, usb, ... any kind of disk. you could raid a bunch of floppies if you were so inclined

Ah. If I have 2 hard drives, one 80gig and one 26gig, should I put them in the RAID slot?

if you want to use raid on them, yes.
