WGL & Associates Rain8 irrigation controller module

The plan is to get this module to work on Linux.

Here is the protocol. Here is the configuration software for windows.

I've emailed the module developer about Linux support - waiting for response.
Also emailed the software developer about it - waiting for response.

I know nothing about programming drivers or otherwise and I am new to Linux.

Any suggestions?

Here is my thread about the irrigation software.
Here is my thread about deciding which distribution to use.

Much gratitude!

RS232 connection, just talk to the device directly (over /dev/ttySx). There is no need for a driver - just software. I assume WINE lets Windows apps communicate with serial devices. Not sure.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.

I understand what you are saying. Here is my thread about the irrigation software.

So the software that comes with the module isn't a driver. It's for doing a one-time configuration of the device. I'll try running them both in WINE.
