Western Digital USB harddrive.

I just got a new 120gb harddrive, for storing my media files. Anyway, I just got it..and plugged it in. Do I need to format this first for it to work? Also, it's detected as sda1...how do I mount this? I've tried several things in fstab but just get errors.

Thanks

Ack..okay, I've been trying to write a fat32 partition to it..with cfdisk..that didn't work..it says it does, but it doesnt. So I tried w. QTparted..and when I hit commit..it says it's formating..but it goes superquick and after it's done the type says "unknown". I am for some reason however, able to format it as an ext3 partiton..and it mounts. I kind of wanted fat32..so it can be seen in windows if needed...any known reason why I can't format it as fat32?

mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb

Actually I use /mnt/mp3 because our mp3 players show as /dev/sda1 too and we use them more than the hard drive.
What format is it? I've found the best thing is to use fat32 as then I can write to my (Iomega) USB hard drive from Windows or linux. If you do go for fat32, format it in Windows or it won't be happy.

Yeah, I'm thinking I may have to format it in windows. I'll try that...thanks.
