Western Digital Hard Drives and Linux issues

Wanting to upgrade my old Maxtor Hard Dive that is beginning to fail. I was looking at the Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Model #:WD5001AALS But I have heard about compatible issues with WD Hard Drives and just wanted to know if this hard drive is working with Mandriva 2010.1 ???
2.6.33.5-desktop586-2mnb

Thanks for any advice....
Rich

According to reviews on Newegg, it works fine.

Thats where I'm planning on buying it from... Where did you see or read that review. Ive read reviews but nothing on whether it worked on a linux box

Just click on the read all reviews link and then in the search field type "linux".

I have a WD Caviar HDD with the characteristics you've just posted and I had installed on my computer Mandriva, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu, Fedora and now Debian. I don't see the reason why it should not work with any of these Linux OS.
