Way to adjust scroll wheel "speed"?

Him all, I've been using linux for nearly a year now, and am currently using Fedora and gnome (if that matters, probably not much). One little thing that's bugged me is the slow speed at which my scroll wheel seems to work. I have to do spin the wheel a whole lot to go up and down a certain amount. Anyone know of a way to adjust this?

I haven't tried this, but to even enable the scrollwheel I added this line to XFConfig86:

"Option" "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

But I bet those numbers can be tweaked to change the scroll speed. So look for the ZAxisMapping line and change it, and report the results. I'm lazy.

I don't think so. I think those two numbers are actually axis/button numbers, messing with them might make the wheel not work. Still, it's worth a try.

Oh, you're probably right, it is a 5-button mouse. Nevermind then.

I've just done a desperate 10 minute google session on behalf
of someone who has a wheel-mouse :) and found the following
link, and thought I'd share, just in case others run into this
problem. (I came to this thread via google, btw ;}).

http://colas.nahaboo.net/mouse-wheel-scroll/

Preety good info, really, and a quick summary as follows:

Unless you install and use iWheel the behaviour of the
wheel-mouse for scrolling is an per-application setting.

Ways to set the wheel up per app are given on the website
above - enjoy.

Cheers,
Tink
